Comment “𝐓𝐄𝐍𝐍𝐈𝐒𝐇” on this substack and we’ll send you our curated list of the 10 hottest “tennish” communities across the US.
In this edition of Offline Weekly, we interviewed Jasmine Solano, the co-founder of Rhthym & Rally, a pickleball and music event series committed to making pickleball accessible, inclusive, and exciting. With DJs and music at their core, they celebrate the intersection of community, sport, and culture.
Two weeks ago, we had the pleasure of meeting Jasmine offline in NYC and got a chance to dive deep into her work and her world-building at the intersection of community, pickleball, and DJing. Enjoy this mini Q&A with Jasmine!
1. Rhythm & Rally
Q: You're a DJ who's worked cultural events, and now you've chosen to focus on making pickleball cool. What drew you to this specific sport over tennis or other racket sports?
For me, pickleball is more than a sport — it’s a perfect canvas for connection. It’s approachable, you don’t need years of training to have fun, and it brings together people across ages, backgrounds, and skill levels in a way that other racket sports often don’t.
I saw this huge, untapped opportunity to pair the social energy of pickleball with the cultural magic of music and community. As a DJ, I’ve always looked for ways to turn spaces into experiences — pickleball gave me a whole new playground to do that.
Q: You're launching Rhythm & Rally in Austin, Miami, and other cities where you don't have existing networks. How do you approach building community in so many new places at once?
Community is built through genuine connection, not just events on a calendar. When we enter a new city, we partner with local DJs, artists, athletes, and small businesses to create something that feels rooted in that city’s personality from day one.
We listen to the community first — what music moves them, what venues feel like home, who the local leaders are — and then we co-create experiences that reflect that. It’s less about “parachuting in” and more about weaving ourselves into the local fabric, so Rhythm & Rally feels like it was always meant to be there.
Q: You’ve done some great-looking partnerships with brands like Red Bull already. How do you help brands like Red Bull show up in your spaces in an authentic way?
The key is integration, not interruption. We don’t just slap a logo on a banner — we think about how a brand can enhance the experience for players and guests.
With Red Bull, for example, we created a custom lounge where people could recharge, connect, and watch matches while enjoying the brand in a natural, memorable way.
It’s about making sure the brand presence adds value to the community moment we’re creating, so it feels like a natural part of the story, not a commercial break.
Jasmine will also be hosting events at the US Open for On with Ben Shelton, DJing Yonex’s pop-up, and other events in the area. So all that to say, Rhythm & Rally is quickly on its way to becoming a big name in the racquet x DJ world.
We hope you enjoyed edition #13 of Offline Weekly, a newsletter featuring up-and-coming offline communities.
We believe the future of brand marketing and community building is Offline.
